That's why my posts have been very limited lately. I'm utilizing a lot of time preparing. Just letting you know so you don't think I quit posting at all. No worries!

Back to the Grindstone! (OC)

Sorry for the gigantic lapse of inactivity. I needed a break. Ever since the Spurs got ousted, I just haven't had the extra energy, nor the required desire to do much of anything productive.. Except for, you know, the stuff that MUST get done. I'm back tonight, however!

I do honestly wonder how in the heck I used to make 25-35 posts per week. I guess it's a combination of several things. I certainly don't surf like I used to. I know I don't spend as much time at the PC as I used to, but I have also cut down on smoking, so this is a good thing. I also didn't have a gaming system for a lot of that time. Now, thanks to my wife at Christmas, I do again! Sp that's gotta be the main reason I smoke less, drink less, and post less.

The moral? Go buy a gaming system! I've saved us money, but I've also shorthanded my fans, and that will change.

Right but seriously I'll be getting back to dedicating more of my time on finding good, new stuff to post. OK thanks, bye.

Back From Vacation Safe & Sound (OC)

Hey everyone!

OK so very soon after my fantasy draft last Friday night, the wife and I took a short vacation to the coast. It seemed as if we were attempting to meet hurricane Isaac in Galveston. As it turned out, you would've never known by the weather the last two days down there, that there was a hurricane coming. We had a cool couple days, and made it home with a day or two to spare.

I'll have a few pictures to upload in a few days. Just know that I'm now back to posting at regular pace, and aside from normal fantasy football operations, things will be back to normal here at One For The Road.

Above is a picture I snapped quickly of the back of a truck with my phone. It was only afterward that I realized it was Michael Jordan's head. Must have been a truck carying a gigantic load of Michael Jordan cologne. At least that's what the truck says.

Fantasy Football is Almost Here!

Posts just might be a little slower than usual this week. The NFL season starts in 2 weeks, and I'll be drafting most of my teams this week. So I've been doing a bunch of player stats & research.. and stuff.

Sorry for the lack of posts last week. No real reason - I just didn't find a lot of stuff. I also went to a concert Friday night, so in addition to already having a few things ready to go, I'll be posting a little review of that show.

So we'll get off to a good start this week! Thank you for continuing to visit!

NCAA Tournament

Sorry for the lack of posts the last few days - It's NCAA Tournament time, and I've spent a bunch of my free time creating my brackets. I think I've done 10 of them the last 36 hours. And I plan to win.

As a consensus of all my brackets so far, I like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Louisville/Missouri, and North Carolina for my final four. Florida State, Kansas, and Baylor, are gonna make it interestingly tough, though.

Happy Birthday, One For The Road!

Well as you can guess, today is my blog's first birthday! I knew it was coming soon, and thought it may have passed. So, last night I go back and check the date on my first post, and viola - it was August 27, 2009! Had no idea that my blog shares a birthday with the landfall of Hurricane Katrina, which was August 27, 2005.

For the record year #1 contained a total of 1,341 posts.

That breaks down to:
• 111.8 per month
• 25.8 per week (best week: 46 - worst week: 7)
• 3.7 per day (best day might have been the day before yesterday: 12)
• 1 post for every 4.1 hours awake

As for hits, I'm pretty proud of my 1908-hit week back in week-20, thanks to the Heavy Metal Band Names Chart. Likewise that week and the few that followed became my best month: May - 3,283.

I want to personally thank all of my readers. I know it's tough to check out all the cool sites you wanna check out every day, and I know some of you do, and some don't have quite that much time. Nevertheless, thanks for making One For The Road all that it is today, one year later. All I can hope is to make it even better in year #2.
