If you're gonna call the morning matches "four-ball," then you can't call the afternoon matches "Foursomes," you should call them "two-ball". There are always gonna be four players playing together on Friday and Saturday, so neither "four-ball," nor "foursomes" makes good sense. Why not call them exactly what they are? All four players are playing their own ball in the morning, and the BEST player's BALL for each pair - wins the hole, so call it "Best Ball". In the afternoon, each pair alternates strokes on ONE BALL, and that is called "Alternate Shot".

The World's Craziest Golf Course Ever?
There's a ground-breaking new golf course under construction at Mission Hills in China. It combines elements of miniature golf, great wonders of the world, and a fantasy-world setting only experienced in video games. Several of the holes announced are one with a Great Wall of China theme, a par-3 with the green situated inside a gigantic noodle-bowl, as well as one with a Bird's Nest Stadium theme, in which the green is concave. It looks both difficult and exciting!

USA Blew a Huge Ryder Cup Lead
Just my two cents from the Ryder Cup.
So we had a nice lead going into the final day of singles match-ups, 10-6.
All we need is 4½ points among 12 matches.
It's a big lead.. one of biggest leads going into Sunday singles that the USA has ever had.

OK, you've got to figure Olazabal's thinking is to put his hottest guys first, right? But some will say that since we only needed 4½ points, Davis should put our hottest guys out first. But why would he do this? Didn't he think ahead as to where Olazabal was gonna put his big guns? And if nothing else, mix it up a little, and make it tough for Olazabal to predict - even if he wanted to!
Going into Sunday singles:
Bradley & Mickelson were both 3-0
Dustin & Kuchar were 2-0
Bubba was 2-1
Simpson was 2-1
Zach was 2-1
Dufner was 2-1
Furyk & Snedeker were 1-1
. . . .
Tiger was 0-2, and Stricker was 0-3.
I'm not gonna predict the order in which Olazabal would've played them. Not now, and not necessarily if I were captain, other than the fact that I know he's GOT to put his weaker players at the end, right? For this event, that would be Molinari, Kaymer, and Hanson. You've gotta realize Rose, McIlroy, Donald, and Poulter are going near the beginning!

The European team played lights-out on Sunday, and I give them a ton of respect for it, but I think our team went into Sunday a little too relaxed, and expecting an easy win. Davis is a good captain, and I'd like to see him return, but things could've been so much different on Sunday. I'd like to know what Freddie's input was.

There's Soon to be a Floating Golf Course
The powers that be of the Maldives Islands are going to build a golf course on one of their newly constructed man-made islands! It's expected to cost more than a half-a-billion dollars, and will be -essentially- the world's first floating golf course.

2012 British Open Championship Update

This is pretty much what it comes down to early tomorrow morning for the final round of the 2012 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes:

No way was it as such going into the tournament, but my money's now on Adam Scott to wrap it up.. I know, I know.. Going out on a limb. He's just playing too well to do something as horrific as it would take to lose this thing. I expect several of the guys to go low and put some pressure on him. McDowell, Tiger, Zach, and even Bubba & Dustin should be able to put a scare into these guys by posting a -7 or -8 early. Of course if the wind blows (and we all know the wind can really blow over there), that's even more of an advantage for Adam Scott.

Zach Johnson's Amazing Golf Shot
...in case you haven't seen it yet.
This is one of the most difficult shots in the game of golf - the fairway bunker shot.
Here's the reason it's so tough: Over time, most golfers become fairly capable of getting out of a green-side sand trap, in which you hit behind the ball with the face open, and slide under the ball, allowing the sand to "blast" the ball out. You never touch the ball. But the fairway bunker shot requires you to hit the ball as if it were a regular fairway shot, but you must make perfectly clean contact, taking no divot. You have to "pick it clean".
I always tell people to put the ball a little back in their stance, use one club longer than you might think, close the face a tiny bit, aim about 10 yards right of where you normally would, and swing at a steeper angle, so that you pick it clean, and then get out - without risking any type of divot. Hit this type of shot a little fat, and it's gonna go about 30 yards. Hit it a little thin, and if it doesn't re-bury itself, it might go 10 feet.
So this is already one of the toughest shots there is. Magnify it by the fact that this is during a tournament.. a PGA Tour event.. on Sunday.. in a sudden death playoff for the title:

The Golfer That You Are
"Probably about 1:30, I'll have lunch at the club," he replied.
1:30 came and went, 3:00 passed... 6:15... still not home. Finally at about
7:00pm he rolls in the driveway, comes in the door, hands his wife a pizza, and begins the apologetic story:
"Well, we finished our round about 11:30, had lunch, and I started home. Then alongside the road I saw this attractive girl with a flat tire on her car. I stopped to help, got the tire changed, and looked around for a place to wash my hands. She offered money, but I refused, so she suggested that I at least allow her to buy me a beer.
She said, 'there's a bar just up the road and they have a restroom. You can clean up a bit there.'
I agreed to stop, and so we had a beer. Then we had another beer... then a couple more, and I soon realized that this girl was not only pretty, but she was also very friendly, and a good companion to spend time with. Before I knew it, we were in the motel next door having sex. And that is why I am so late getting home."
His wife looked him right in the eye and said, "Don't BS me, you bastard! You played 36 holes, didn't you?"
