20 Geek-Inspired Engagement Rings
Mood Rings:
This ring comes with a stone and you can see a change in color with a change in your mood.
Of all these different shades, the top one is violet and the last is black. Here’s a little more about these colors.
violet blue – cheerful, romantic
blue – cool, comfortable
green – normal, nothing much is happening with you
yellow/amber – confused, energized
brown/gray – anxious, concerned
black – damaged ring or cold temperature
It is worth mentioning that these mood rings have been used in a recent research to get an idea of the extent of neurological damage a solider may experience in a battle. There is a lot of promise in this research, and if things continue to move according to plan, you will see color crystals on military uniform that will be used instead of conventional badges. It is supposed that an instant color change after a severe blast will help others know that a solider is in need of immediate medical attention.
Fingerprint Ring:
A perfect keepsake of your friendship and love! Get a pattern of your friend’s fingertips on this hallmark silver band and it will become a precious item of your life.
Bone Ring:
It is easy to find people who always opt for the unique things, even if they are buying a ring. If you are one of those, get this Bone Ring, as there is nothing more unique than your own DNA. These rings are actually made of a person’s bone tissue. Artists and scientists have joined forces to produce this wonderful ring. A tissue is taken from your wisdom tooth and then used to make a ring. Really unique, isn’t? But, unfortunately, the original company website is not functional.

11 Tips to Cut Your Cholesterol Fast
How's your cholesterol? If you think that the normal reading you got back in 2004 (or earlier) means you're in the clear, think again: Levels of the artery-clogging substance often rise with age, and cardiologists say everyone 20 or older should be screened for high cholesterol at least once every five years, with more frequent screenings for anyone deemed to be at high risk for heart disease. If it's been awhile since your last cholesterol screening, now's a good time to ask your doctor if you're due for one.
The good news? If your fasting total cholesterol level exceeds the desirable level of 200, or if your low-density lipoprotein ( LDL, or "bad”) cholesterol is above 100, getting it down to a safer level could be easier than you think.

LeBron: No One Should Wear 23 Anymore
In a post-game interview with NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager, LeBron James was recorded claiming he doesn't feel anyone in the league should ever wear #23 again. This was James' response when asked how he felt about Michael Jordan being present at the game to watch him go head-to-head against Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade. He mentioned it would be easy for him to change his number to 6, the number he's worn for USA Olympic basketball.
When asked what team will be creating this new #6 for him, he declined to comment - as he's doing for months. No doubt he's bothered by that possibility, but obvious to most he could pretty much write his own contract.
By the way, I happen to agree with LeBron. The number 23 should be permanently retired.

Surely I'll be updating this post. Click on LeBron up above to read Ohio.com's first-news take on the story. I got my info from the actual live ESPN post-game interview.
8 Not-So-Famous Firsts
Ever wondered who received the first Social Security Card? Who was involved in the first wet T-shirt contest? Today’s your lucky day.
1. The First Hamburger Chain
McDonald’s, Burger King and that girl with the braids are better known, but they were all latecomers to the game. Walter Anderson and Billy Ingram partnered up to employ Henry Ford’s assembly line model in a restaurant setting. They opened their first White Castle in Wichita, Kansas, in 1921, a time when Americans were skeptical about the wholesomeness of ground beef. Anderson put the complete “making of” story in full view of the customer; they watched as a cook formed the ground beef into a patty and placed it on the grill. The stark white and shiny chrome theme in the building’s décor was also a subliminal hint as to the purity of the food. Sales at that first restaurant were so overwhelming that they soon opened more White Castles (each with the same interior and exterior architecture), first in Kansas and then in Nebraska and Minnesota.

Famous Hallucinations
I’ve often wondered if some element of cuckoo was necessary to create astonishing works of art, staggering pieces of writing or masterful musical compositions. This is why I’ve decided to delve a little deeper into hallucinations that have impacted a creators’ work. Hallucinations can be caused by many things aside from dropping acid or drinking mushroom tea. If you asked Freud, he’d tell you that hallucinations are the projection of our unconscious desires, wishes and thoughts. Hallucinations can also be the product of particular mental disorders, sleep deprivation as well as psychosis. This is no small topic so I’m writing this as a start-off point to a subject I am deeply fascinated by and would like to know more about. Any additional information on other famous hallucinations are encouraged, as well as discussion on whether or not you believe that “being out of one’s mind” has any influence (good or bad) on an artist’s work.
Jim Morrison: "Indians scattered on Dawn’s highway bleeding, Ghosts crowd the young child’s fragile eggshell mind..."

What Your Online Pics Say About You
Those photos you post on Facebook could paint an accurate picture of your personality, new research on first impressions suggests.
And perhaps as expected, the more candid a shot the more nuances of your personality show through.
"In an age dominated by social media where personal photographs are ubiquitous, it becomes important to understand the ways personality is communicated via our appearance," said study researcher Laura Naumann of Sonoma State University. "The appearance one portrays in his or her photographs has important implications for their professional and social life."
With this information, there's always the option of tweaking your image, and thus your personality to the outside world. "If you want potential employers or romantic suitors to see you as a warm and friendly individual, you should post pictures where you smile or are standing in a relaxed pose," Naumann said.

8 Restaurants Doin' It Right
It might not be good for America's waistline, but froufrou dining off petite plates is out. The recession has made us hungry for family-size piles of comfort food, skyscraping burgers, and all-you-can-eat fries.
Like other segments of the retail economy, the restaurant industry has struggled over the past two years as unemployment has soared and consumers have curtailed spending. The National Restaurant Association's performance index shows that the industry has been shrinking for 23 months in a row. High-end bistros have fared the worst, with sales at fancy restaurants like Ruth's Chris and Morton's Steakhouse off by 20 percent or more, as corporate customers pare expenses and other diners trade down. Casual- and family-dining places have suffered too, as people eat out less, order more takeout, or cook at home. Even fast-food chains like McDonald's and Burger King have lost business, despite dollar meals and other deals meant to keep the fryers sizzling.
