That link isn't gonna do it all for ya, but hey - it's all on youtube, and many other places. I honestly can't link them all from here.
I really like the 2nd release, "Dirt," but there is so much impressive music on their debut album "Facelift", it's not even funny. I used to listen to it over & over & over & over again during long drives... even after I already had Dirt. And even after the hits continued to come from Dirt. And there were a lot!
So much of what is remembered from Alice In Chains is from "Dirt" - but there is so much from this CD, and the couple that followed it.
Go listen!

Alice In Chains - Junkhead
Simply a classic! The loss of Layne Staley is in my eyes just as horrible if not worse than than the loss of Kurt Cobain. This guy and this band were a collection of geniuses. Alice In Chains lives on today through the voices of Jerry Cantrell, and Layne's superb replacement, William DuVall. Every new one they come out with has Staley's influence in it - you can hear it. A lot of it is Cantrell's writing, but the sound lingers on, and on, and on.
~ Their homepage ~
All we get from Nirvana is the same ol' stuff from 20 years ago. I have to blame most of that on 99.5 Kiss - the main local rock station here. Their playlist coordinator needs to resign asap.

Our Plecostomus
Just thought I'd post a couple pictures of our plecostomus. I've had lots of fish in my lifetime, and I've had plenty of plecostomus (plecostomi?). But I've never had one live this long nor get this big. He's about 7" head to tail, and really fat, compared to other plecostomus pictures I've seen recently.
He's also very aggressive, and likes to chase the other fish we have in the tank. He even eats regular fish food when I feed them, as is not normally what you'd expect, since they are bottom-feeders and algae eaters. Sometimes we'll drop in one of those algae tablets to give him his own stuff to eat, and if it's dropped right in front of him, he'll grab it before it has a chance to dissolve, and sit there and eat it like a cookie. It's pretty funny.
We've decided to get another old tank ready and move him in there by himself for a while, which also might allow him to grow a little more. We don't think he's gonna get much bigger given the size of our 25-gallon hexagon tank.

A Spectacular New Movie?
I haven't yet seen this film, but what can be said for a brand new movie that launches itself onto this spot in history? Better than Godfather II.. Better than The Good, the Bad, And The Ugly.. Better than Pulp Fiction, Schindler's List, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest...
And all the others are here, in the case that you didn't enlarge - Go check out how this movie is slaughtering a ton of good films.
It kinda blows my mind. Click that to see my voting history.
I guess I may need to actually go see a movie in the theater for once.

Number Sequences In Dates
OK so I have something to "vent" about.
All over the Internets I've seen some rendition of the above image, followed by the fact that at that particular time yesterday yada yada yada...
Then there is usually some sort of proclamation that "this won't happen again until 3010." Of course not! Not with those particular numbers. Don't all of these people realize that at 6:07 and 8 seconds on Sept. 10, 2011 it will happen again? Same thing at 7:08 and 9 seconds on Oct. 11, 2012.. and so on!
These types of things happen all the time, but each time it happens people think it's an incredibly rare occurrence (like the coming of Halley's Comet).
This particular example will happen every 366 days, 1 hour, 1 minute, and 1 second.
And there are a lot of others:
What about exactly 6 hours, 6 minutes, and 6 seconds later when it was 8/9/10 11:12:13?
Last year in September, we had 09-09-09, and I'm sure it also included some form of the time of 9:09:09 a.m. that day. This one also happens every 366 days, 1 hour, 1 minute, and 1 second. Hmmm, I think there's a pattern here.
We also had a "binary" day back on 01/01/10, which can be further complicated by specifying that at
Until the year turns to 2013, there will be lots of these funny sequences of digits when including the month. Likewise until the year turns to 2032, there will be a number of these sequences that include the day of the month.
And I'll bet no one even realized what was going on back on January 2, 2004 at 8:16:32.

The International Olympic Committee announced Monday that it has taken back the gold medal previously awarded to American skier Lindsey Vonn and given it to U.S. President Barack Obama.
Olympic officials said Obama deserved the medal more than Vonn because no one has ever gone downhill faster than he has.

Prescriptions These Days
Via
This is about right. These days you can get a prescription for almost anything you need. We get what we need - We borrow what we can't get. Someone will surely fill it for someone we know, right?
The bullet is sweet symbolism for what might become of the prescription drug industry in America. Do I think it would happen? Of course not - But sometimes what is prescribed to one person is seriously dangerous to someone else who gets their hands on it.
Then again, anyone over 18 can go buy ammunition... Hmmm

What a great chart! Lots to learn here. I think. One thing I already knew - Hawaii would be the best place on the planet to live.

The Possum In My Backyard
Click them to enlarge..
We're into double-digits now for sure. They always have this crazy tendency to run along the top 2x4 of the back fence, which is also another house's back fence. We don't exactly live in the country.
Ugly things.. All they do is sit there and stare at you. We found a dead young one about two days ago in the back yard, so I kinda expected more family members to be around.
Illinois River's Flying Carp Problem
One of the most serious economic and environmental threats to Wisconsin in recent years is the imminent invasion of Asian carp into Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes. This invasion must be stopped.
Source
The bighead and silver carp, more commonly known as Asian carp, are prolific and voracious. The non-native Asian carp can consume up to 40 percent of their weight in food per day and compete directly with commercial and sport fish for food. In some stretches of water, it is reported, up to 97 percent of the biomass is Asian carp. Commercial and sport fish are crowded out, jeopardizing the future viability of these native fish and causing commercial and sport fishing to go elsewhere. Waterfowl production, too, can be adversely affected by Asian carp.
Via
Not only do Asian carp threaten the health of the ecosystems they invade, but they can be dangerous to people as well. By now I am sure you’ve seen videos of leaping silver carp. Fishermen, boaters, water skiers: Beware. These and other recreational pursuits become dangerous when fish that can grow to 100 pounds come hurtling through the air after being startled by motors. Fish biologist Duane Chapman of the United States Geological Survey likens the impact of being struck by a 20-pound flying fish as similar to being hit by a bowling ball. A fortunate boater who escapes injury may nevertheless be repairing broken windshields.

Vintage Hard Disk Ad
Via
Check out that price! I wish I could get an exact date for this Ad, but I could only come within a year or so.
These days, not only would it be tough to find a 10 MB anything (perhaps other than phone sim cards, zip disks, or large floppy disks - remember those regular floppies were 1.44 MB), but you can buy a 2 TB external hard drive for about $150.
Just for clarity: 2 TB = 2,000 GB = 2,000,000 MB.
Finally, you can get 200,000-times the storage capacity for about 4.5 % the price!
Go back in time, and tell that salesperson, "Hey dude, in 2010 I'd be able to buy two hundred thousand of those for $150!"
I won't even go into size.
