The World's Craziest Golf Course Ever?

There's a ground-breaking new golf course under construction at Mission Hills in China. It combines elements of miniature golf, great wonders of the world, and a fantasy-world setting only experienced in video games. Several of the holes announced are one with a Great Wall of China theme, a par-3 with the green situated inside a gigantic noodle-bowl, as well as one with a Bird's Nest Stadium theme, in which the green is concave. It looks both difficult and exciting!

The Starchild Project

The Starchild Skull is a genuine 900-year-old bone skull found in Mexico in the 1930s. The Starchild Project is an informal organization which began in 1999 when Ray and Melanie Young, the owners of the Starchild Skull, asked Lloyd Pye to head research efforts to determine what caused the unusual shape and properties of the bone.

The results uncovered by the research team ruled out all known deformities, and presented the scientific community with a genetic and physical profile never before seen on Earth.

Now new DNA findings indicate that the Starchild Skull may well be "alien"! Now all that remains is to determine whether alien means "foreign to normal human genetics within the framework of that subject as it is currently understood," or "definitely not from planet Earth"... or something in between.

The Olin Studio: Wild (x)ing

American architectural firm The Olin Studio has been selected as one of the five finalists for a next generation wildlife crossing at West Vail Pass, Colorado in the United States. The competition is intended to solve the problem of ensuring safe travel for humans and wildlife.

'Wild (x)ing' is based around the shape of a rhomboid, as it offers structural strength, dynamic flexibility, and efficient modular patterning.



The innovative use of the toroid, as a framework for the diagrid superstructure and habitat module offers adaptability to any wildlife crossing, using a universal geometry to generate the system's form. It will accommodate growth and change of the transportation infrastructure network, allowing highways to be increased in width and corresponding crossings to be enlarged, reduced or removed for re-use at any given time.
