Damageplan - New Found Power (Full Album)
Source
I've been to a ton of concerts, and seen almost everyone I've wanted to see. One of my biggest regrets, however, is not seeing Pantera live. In fact I regret not seeing a few other bands live, as well, but Pantera is certainly my #1 regret.
I did get to see Damageplan in July of 2004, but it was a show I was going to to see another band, and at the time who knew what was about to happen later that year. I knew who he was, and I knew the significance of the band, but didn't pay attention like I honestly should have. Rest in Peace Dimebag - We all miss you!
1. "Wake Up" 4:29
2. "Breathing New Life" 3:49
3. "New Found Power" 3:25
4. "Pride" 4:17
5. "Fuck You" (featuring Corey Taylor) 3:09
6. "Reborn" (featuring Zakk Wylde) 4:02
7. "Explode" 3:13
8. "Save Me" 3:36
9. "Cold Blooded" 4:57
10. "Crawl" 5:30
11. "Blink of an Eye" 4:19
12. "Blunt Force Trauma" 4:57
13. "Moment of Truth" 6:51
14. "Soul Bleed" (featuring Zakk Wylde) 5:13

But In Case You Forgot - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings

Prog or not. This DT album is absolutely incredible. Unlike most albums you buy, there is nothing on this one that I'd pass on. You know.. you put one in, and forward to your favorite one(s). Not here. One through six it's amazing - especially 5 & 6. I don't see how anyone couldn't feel something during the combined tracks of "The Best of Times" and "The Count of Tuscany". It's the best 32 minutes of music I have ever heard. Yeah I just said that:
1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. A Rite of Passage
3. Wither
4. The Shattered Fortress
5. The Best of Times
6. The Count of Tuscany
I think about my father every time I listen to "The Best of Times". My idol, Mike Portnoy wrote the song for his father, who had just passed away. I cry with him. I always do. This album is so incredible. The solo on "The Best of Times" is one of the best I've ever heard, and "The Count of Tuscany" is probably the best song DT has ever recorded. No wait.. It is most certainly the best DT song ever recorded.

Brand New Dream Theater - "A Dramatic Turn of Events"

Well they've done it. Here is the brand new work of Dream Theater - their first effort without founding member and drummer Mike Portnoy. Replacing him is Mike Mangini, and as you'll find, it's hard to even notice MP is gone. Here is the track listing. Each song title links to its own Youtube page. Enjoy!!
1. On the Backs of Angels
2. Build Me Up, Break Me Down
3. Lost Not Forgotten
4. This is the Life
5. Bridges in the Sky
6. Outcry
7. Far From Heaven
8. Breaking All Illusions
9. Beneath The Surface
I'll have my review for you very soon!

Facelift - Alice In Chains
Everyone needs to go revisit this album - It's truly incredible.

01 We Die Young
02 Man In The Box
03 Sea Of Sorrow
04 Bleed The Freak
05 I Can't Remember
06 Love, Hate, Love
07 It Ain't Like That
08 Sunshine
09 Put You Down
10 Confusion
11 I Know Somethin (Bout You)
12 Real Thing
That link isn't gonna do it all for ya, but hey - it's all on youtube, and many other places. I honestly can't link them all from here.
I really like the 2nd release, "Dirt," but there is so much impressive music on their debut album "Facelift", it's not even funny. I used to listen to it over & over & over & over again during long drives... even after I already had Dirt. And even after the hits continued to come from Dirt. And there were a lot!
So much of what is remembered from Alice In Chains is from "Dirt" - but there is so much from this CD, and the couple that followed it.
Go listen!

It Was Metallica At Their Peak
~~Here's Your Language Warning~~
Just took a little trip down memory lane. I saw a post at Gorilla Mask dot com regarding the best "passover" rock song, and the article was about Creeping Death. You can read it here.
Anyway, it led me down a 30 minute road to try and find footage of my memories from the Wherever We May Roam Tour in support of their 1991 Black Album. The diamond-shaped stage. The lucky guys who were down there inside the diamond. "One" live! Hetfield with his foot on his monitor and hand slowly waving across the horizon, chanting:

"And my ties are severed clean
Less I have the more I gain
Off the beaten path I reign"
Great seats all around. Drum set rotating... omg! They were at their prime then. And it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. And I've been to a ton!
No, I didn't go in Moscow with 1.5 million people, it was either Austin or San Antonio. It was a 3-hour set with no opening band, and left me blown away. One distinct memory from that night was the portion of Creeping Death during which 20,000 people - all in one building - are all yelling "DIE" - on beat - in unison.. At our show, James didn't tell us what to do, everyone knew what to do, and it was surreal.
