Afterburner with Bill Whittle: The Lynching

Lots of stuff about the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case you might now know about. (And the only thing "graphic" about this video is a picture of Trayvon Martin flipping double middle fingers, so don't not watch because you think there will be gore. There isn't.)

I post this mostly to say 'shame on you' to the national media - They screw up so many aspects of so many people's lives, it's not funny.

Did Flight 93 Really Crash Near Shanksville, PA?

Tons of suspicious questions are raised at this site. If you're a "truther" like me, you'll want to go check out this guy's collection of information about the "9/11 crash in Shanksville, PA" and all the questions that are raised.

Be sure to check out other areas of the site, such as the inconsistent timeline, suspicious debris, and theories, and of course there are hundreds of great images!

Click the image above to go to the site..

Flight 93 was said to have crashed with 5,500 gallons of jet fuel still on board. What happened to the remaining thousands of gallons of jet fuel, and why wasn't there a huge fire around the crater when the first witnesses arrived shortly after the crash? And why was there never a thick black smoke plume trailing high up in the sky like you'd expect to see from such a deadly plane crash? Why is there only one small fire truck at the crash scene with little or no firefighting efforts going on?

Why did none of the tall dry grass growing right up against the rim of the crater get burned, and why was some of the dirt inside the crater free of charring and soot from the crash?

What happened to the large tail section from Flight 93 after it apparently only left a faint impression in the grass compared to the deep impressions its wings supposedly made? Was it found in the woods as only one young witness seems to described? If so, why haven't we seen a photo of it?

The Truth About Taco Bell Beef

There's a lot of talk right now about what really hides inside Taco Bell's beef — better known as "Taco Meat Filling" — and so naturally the fast food restaurant was bound to chime in with some rather angry words:

TACO BELL STATEMENT REGARDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT
"At Taco Bell, we buy our beef from the same trusted brands you find in the supermarket, like Tyson Foods. We start with 100

percent USDA-inspected beef. Then we simmer it in our proprietary blend of seasonings and spices to give our seasoned beef its signature Taco Bell taste and texture. We are proud of the quality of our beef and identify all the seasoning and spice ingredients on our website. Unfortunately, the lawyers in this case elected to sue first and ask questions later — and got their 'facts' absolutely wrong. We plan to take legal action for the false statements being made about our food."
-- Greg Creed, President and Chief Concept Officer, Taco Bell Corp.

Taco Bell "beef" pseudo-Mexican delicacies are really made of a gross mixture called "Taco Meat Filling" as shown on their big container's labels, like the one pictured here, which customers can't see. The list of ingredients is gruesome:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beef, water, isolated oat product, salt, chili pepper, onion powder, tomato powder, oats (wheat), soy lecithin, sugar, spices, maltodextrin (a polysaccharide that is absorbed as glucose), soybean oil (anti-dusting agent), garlic powder, autolyzed yeast extract, citric acid, caramel color, cocoa powder, silicon dioxide (anti-caking agent), natural flavors, yeast, modified corn starch, natural smoke flavor, salt, sodium phosphate, less than 2% of beef broth, potassium phosphate, and potassium lactate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It looks gruesome but passable... until you learn that, according to the Alabama law firm suing Taco Bell—only 36% of that is beef. Thirty-six percent. The other 64% is mostly tasteless fibers—which are there to increase volume while keeping the cost down—additives and some flavoring and coloring. Everything is processed into a mass that actually looks like beef, and packed into

big containers labeled as "taco meat filling." These containers get shipped to Taco Bell's outlets and cooked into something that, again, looks like beef, is called beef and is advertised as beef.

But can you call beef something that looks ground beef but it's 64% lots-of-other-stuff? Taco Bell thinks they can.

That's the reason why an Alabama law firm is presenting a class action lawsuit for false advertising, claiming that what Taco Bell claims is "beef" in their commercials is just the aforementioned processed clustermass of disgust. It appears that they have a very good point.

According to the USDA, Taco Bell can't call this mixture "beef" at all. Beef is officially defined as "flesh of cattle", and ground beef is defined as:

Chopped fresh and/or frozen beef with or without seasoning and without the addition of beef fat as such, shall not contain more than 30 percent fat, and shall not contain added water, phosphates, binders, or extenders.

That is certainly nothing like the mix that Taco Bell is using in their products.

The Truth About Sugar, Cholesterol, And Triglycerides

By Katherine Kam

Can you get addicted to sugar? Do you need to quit it cold turkey? Here are expert answers.

Recently, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres declared that she was going on a sugar cleanse, purging her diet of all refined sugars to boost her well-being. While naturally occurring sugars, such as the kind found in sugar snap peas, were still OK to eat, no one was going to catch Ellen letting a Bundt cake cross her lips.

Her sugar cleanse diet inspired many viewers to embark on their own sugar smackdowns. Is this the latest food fad, or are the sugar naysayers on to something?

We don't need to go cold turkey on sugar, health experts tell WebMD. But most of us would do well to lighten up on the sweet stuff.

Is sugar addictive?
A coworker with an unshakable candy bar habit might sigh that she's utterly addicted to sweets. Can someone truly become physically dependent on sugar?

Sugar taps into a powerful human preference for sweet taste, says Marcia Pelchat, PhD, a scientist at the Monell Chemical Senses Center, a basic research institute in Philadelphia. "We're born to like sugar," she says.

"Sugar does seem to be special in some ways," Pelchat says, even in the womb. Doctors used to treat the problem of excessive amniotic fluid by injecting a sweet substance into the liquid, she says. The appealing taste would prompt the fetus to swallow more fluid, which was then flushed out through the umbilical cord and the mother's kidneys.

Not only do infants prefer sweet tastes, but when babies drink a sweet solution, it can ease pain through a natural analgesic effect in the body, Pelchat says.

Way back, the preference for sugar may have conferred an evolutionary advantage by leading people to seek out ripe fruits, which are sweet and serve as a good source of calories, she says.

But nowadays, is the coworker's constant hankering for sugar merely a strong liking, or is it a true addiction, with physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms?
