An Amazing New Band

It was August 31, 2016 (Stephanie's birthday). We had just finished our fantasy football draft. Mike Matney sent me an amazing song.. "Ether" by Bloody Hammers, and I think it might have been the 2nd time he'd sent it to me. Mike is amazing, and has turned me onto quite a few new bands. "Ether" is fantastic, by the way, as is a lot of their other stuff.

I had just prior to that shown him "Anesthetize" by Porcupine Tree, the Gavin Harrison drum-cam version. Upon reading a bunch of the comments under Bloody Hammers' "Ether," I figured out that in addition to them being one of Sweden's most popular bands, someone mentioned that this band called GHOST is too.

Not even 15 minutes later I was listening to this live version of Ghost's recently Grammy award-winning song, "Cirice", and this was my very first exposure to Ghost. The rest is history. . .

Saw them live in October, 2016. They have a ton of history, and have also entangled themselves within a lot of mystery surrounding band members' identities, and such.. But their music is so good that the negative publicity is worthless. They've toured the world, drawn millions of fans, and are currently venturing out on a tour along with IRON MAIDEN.

They are also currently working on their next studio album.

Mom's White Tree Frog (OC)

Mine

It was almost 2" long, in case the perspective isn't clear. Anyone wanna tackle its identification? Looks like it might be either a Cope's Gray Tree frog, or a White Reed Frog. Shot is a little blurry, but still a cute little thing.

An Easy Win

OK so all of this finally decided to fall this week. Yeah, in Texas this happens in the middle of winter sometimes. And instead of wasting 10-12 bags, we mulched it all up with the lawn mower. I raked. She mowed. No bags. 2 hours of work. Thankfully, my wife listened to me this year.

Lots of dust and remnants, but our yard looks 99% better, and the rest of the work will be a piece of cake. Yesterday, you couldn't see one blade of grass.

Beautiful Autumn Leaves

CTE!

Via

We never get to see stuff like this down here in Texas, and that's a shame. It kinda makes raking seem like a little less of the chore it is. Sure, we get the leaves on the ground, but they're ugly.. and brown. Always.

World's Largest Family Tree Discovered

With DNA tests, we're finding family trees that stretch back centuries -- and for the oldest families, even thousands of years, connecting us to historical figures like Genghis Khan.

Leaves

OK so believe it or not, this is our second raking of the season! The first time, probably about 4-5 weeks ago, we ended up with 8 large garbage bags full (non mulched). I expect this might be another 12 bags. Damn oak tree! And yes, the tree is finally empty.

The Automotive Family Tree

Basically it's a diagram of who owns who in the automotive world.

The diagram shows 130 different vehicle manufactures from US, Europe, India, Asia, Russia and China. I’ve read that there is more than 80 different vehicle manufactures in China. I made the decision not to list all of them, but the ones I included are among the top 40 manufactures in the world.
