A Discovery

So I clicked on a video link a Facebook friend of mine posted. I was checking out the video. It was a guy by the name of Uli Jon Roth (who's like 56 now) with his band from 2006. First I was like, "why have I never heard of this guy? He's a great guitarist!" A few seconds later I realized

what song they were playing, and I was like "Hells yeah - I LOVE this song!" Hmm.. "Sails of Charon".

Then I thought for another few seconds... "Whose song is this?"

Went to Google. Typed in "Who wrote 'Sails of Charon'"? The page only gave me a few performances.. Yngwie.. Scorpions.. Wait, Scorpions?

So I went to Wikipedia and typed in "Sails of Charon". Wow! It was the Scorpions.. ...Written by former guitarist Ulrich Jon Roth. Doh!

I never, ever knew they had a guitarist prior to Matthias Jabs. Scorpions are a top-10 all-time favorite of mine, I've seen them live (that was 1989), but yet I didn't know this. I'm ashamed of myself! Nevertheless, I guess you learn something everyday, huh! Now I get to go back and re-listen to the Ali Jon Roth -led Scorpions (before 1979's "Lovedrive") all over again with a new perspective.
