Elliðaey, Iceland

Elliðaey is the third largest island of the Westman Islands, located south of Iceland. The island is uninhabited, but has a large hunting lodge, constructed in 1953.

In 2000, the (then) Prime Minister of Iceland, Davið Oddsson, drew criticism when he tried to present the island to the singer Björk as a gift, to thank her for her contribution to raising the international profile of Iceland. His offer was withdrawn after much local protest. (Source)
