A 2003 Cold Set
Remedy
Suffocate
Gone Away (A Song for Starr)
Stupid Girl
A Different Kind of Pain 2005
Happens All The Time 2005
And the two that are in a class by themselves:
Cure My Tragedy
"Cure My Tragedy" is one of my favorite songs of all-time. It cleanses my soul, as it's the one that drove me to tears so many times. Thank you Stephanie, my love, and my everything!
Wasted Years
All I have to do is listen to Cold, and memories from September of 2003 come back really strong. I had just met the woman of my dreams. She rescued me from a terrible relationship, and the moment we met, I knew I had found "the one". We used to cruise around in her little green Mitsubishi Lancer listening to all sorts of stuff.. Godsmack, Staind, Chevelle.. But it was her introducing me to Cold that cemented so many memories. That's how it is. When you're going through changes in your life (and really even when you're not) the introduction of beautiful brand new music stays with you. And Cold will always stay with me for this reason. I love you Steph!

Leap Year Explained
Via / Source
My nephew and his wife are having a baby, and were trying to choose between tomorrow and March 1 for her to be induced. Turns out they won't have the choice, and the little one will be born tomorrow - on February 29th. Hmmm... Very happy for them, but how is this child going to understand his birthday? It'll take a few years...
By the way both of the parents' birthdays are on the 1st of a month.

Internet 2011 in Numbers
(an article by Pingdom)

So what happened with the Internet in 2011? How many email accounts were there in the world in 2011? How many websites? How much did the most expensive domain name cost? How many photos were hosted on Facebook? How many videos were viewed to YouTube?
We’ve got answers to these questions and many more. A veritable smorgasbord of numbers, statistics and data lies in front of you. Using a variety of sources we’ve compiled what we think are some of the more interesting numbers that describe the Internet in 2011. (Source)
Email
• 3.146 billion – Number of email accounts worldwide.
• 27.6% – Microsoft Outlook was the most popular email client.
• 19% – Percentage of spam emails delivered to corporate email inboxes despite spam filters.
• 112 – Number of emails sent and received per day by the average corporate user.
• 71% – Percentage of worldwide email traffic that was spam (November 2011).
• 360 million – Total number of Hotmail users (largest email service in the world).
• $44.25 – The estimated return on $1 invested in email marketing in 2011.
• 40 – Years since the first email was sent, in 1971.
• 0.39% – Percentage of email that was malicious (November 2011).
Websites
• 555 million – Number of websites (December 2011).
• 300 million – Added websites in 2011.

Kobe: Our Failure A Wasted Year

Kobe Bryant is never much for sentimentality, and he's not going to change any time soon.
So when he reflected Wednesday on the Lakers' underachieving 2010-2011 season, which included being swept in a Western Conference semifinal series, Bryant didn't mince words on his disappointment.
"It was a wasted year of my life," he said in his exit interview.
Among the other highlights:
• He said he believes that the Lakers can win a title next year with the same roster
• He said he plans to work on his game during the summer, focusing on leg strength and injury prevention. He added that he doesn't want to get surgery on his right index finger, even if there is an NBA lockout, because the rehab would take too long.

Math Rant

OK it's time for another one of my mini math rants! So most of you have probably seen this somewhere already this year (personally I've seen it/heard it several times now, which is the reason for this post):
This year we will experience 4 unusual dates - 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11.
NOW go figure this out: Take the last 2 digits of the year you were born plus the age you will be this year and it will equal to 111.
Yeah - and last year it totaled 110. And the year before it totaled 109... and so on. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you take the current year (2011) and subtract from it the year you were born (1971, in my case), that viola! What do you get? YOUR AGE! Duh! It's the same freakin' thing!
/that's all.

Golf Shot Of The Year
Be sure to watch the replay - it's even more spectacular.

Yeah yeah, so far. But this might actually hold up a few months. Driver off a very tight, downhill lie, with all that trouble left - and playing the 50-yd. slice to boot! Yummy Bubba.. yummy I say!!

Happy Birthday, One For The Road!

Well as you can guess, today is my blog's first birthday! I knew it was coming soon, and thought it may have passed. So, last night I go back and check the date on my first post, and viola - it was August 27, 2009! Had no idea that my blog shares a birthday with the landfall of Hurricane Katrina, which was August 27, 2005.
For the record year #1 contained a total of 1,341 posts.
That breaks down to:
• 111.8 per month
• 25.8 per week (best week: 46 - worst week: 7)
• 3.7 per day (best day might have been the day before yesterday: 12)
• 1 post for every 4.1 hours awake
As for hits, I'm pretty proud of my 1908-hit week back in week-20, thanks to the Heavy Metal Band Names Chart. Likewise that week and the few that followed became my best month: May - 3,283.
I want to personally thank all of my readers. I know it's tough to check out all the cool sites you wanna check out every day, and I know some of you do, and some don't have quite that much time. Nevertheless, thanks for making One For The Road all that it is today, one year later. All I can hope is to make it even better in year #2.
