Oops! Guess They Miscalculated..

Well we're obviously still here, and everything at least seems normal... Crazy Mayans! By the way, here's a picture of our lovely planet as the new day began. Dec. 22, 2012!

The End of Days

~ these guys are ready!

Source

If you’re seriously concerned about the world ending on Friday, then this could be just the ticket.

Ron Hubbard has built a luxurious underground bomb-proof shelter in Montebello, California, with a leather sofa, plasma TV and wooden flooring - just in case the Mayans’ predictions come true.

The civilisation’s Long Count calendar which began 5,125 years ago in 3113 B.C. ends on December 21, 2012 - sparking fears among a small group of people that a major catastrophe could happen.

Surviving 2012 and Planet X

Source

That's part 1, and here are the rest.

There's a lot of truth and wonder in this short series. I became a little less supportive during videos 3 & 4, but the fact remains that there is a large mass approaching our solar system. The ramifications would be huge.

Then I see that this series was published in 2007. Hmmm... well, you can say it's old news, but in the complete scope of things space-related, 5 years is actually tiny.

Way to Go, Spurs!

1 down - 97 more to go!   Here's a recap:

Source

The 2012-2013 NBA season kicked off Tuesday night, and the Spurs began their schedule on Halloween night with a clutch WIN at New Orleans 99-95. They will follow it up by quickly flying home to host the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight. Yeah that's it, start us off with a back-to-back! Anyway, Anthony Davis was impressive in his debut (21 points, 7 rebounds, and 0 turnovers). He has a very pretty shot, in addition to being a premier defender & rebounder. I think he went 9 of 9 from the FT line. Take that Dwight Howard. Here's the box score..

No doubt there will be a seriously high level of revenge in the eyes of San Antonio tonight. After all.. the Thunder ended our 20-game regular season & playoffs win streak, and then our entire season - all in less than a week last June. It should be very loud in the AT&T Center - and extremely white.

Regarding the game updates, am I going to continue where I left off last year? Unfortunately no, I'm not. Not that I didn't enjoy doing them, but they do take quite a bit of time, especially the handful of occasions when I got behind. Plus, I just kind of felt like there were only a few hundred dozen of you actually reading them. Perhaps if I get enough encouragement, I might reconsider this decision. I love my Spurs, so don't worry.. I'll do an update every now & then - just not every single game.

By the way, the all-stars Lakers are 0-2, Dwight Howard has 11 fouls in 2 games.. he's missed 15 of 33 FTs, and Steve Nash left last night's game with a nasty-looking knee injury.

San Antonio Spurs 2012-13 Training Camp Roster

Source

Well after tonight's loss against Denver, we're now 2-1 in the preseason. Too many threes tonight I think. Tim & Tony played their first action this year, and played considerable minutes.

Lots of good young talent this year, and I hope they decide to let go of some baggage, and let these new guys shine. Collins & Wilkerson have already been cut. You have to assume DeColo will make the team, and I think Powell will. Beyond that, unless Pop decides to cut ties with players like Cory Joseph, Matt Bonner, and DeJuan Blair, then Witherspoon, Brown, and Curry aren't gonna make the team. We need Cory Joseph this year like New Orleans needs another hurricane.

Drafting a Fantasy QB Early

Via / Source

This was a cool graphic I found - making the point that most fantasy football owners who drafted top QBs early are likely to be losing this season.

Updating this graphic with week-3's stats, Rodgers had about 8 in week-3 against the Seahawks. In week-3 of 2011 (and I have no idea why this is N/A in the graphic to begin with), Rodgers had about 24.

So the graphic is, in fact very accurate - in that if you drafted a top-5 or top-6 QB this year, you are likely not winning much so far this year.

I tried to get Cam Newton in most leagues, but I wound up getting Michael Vick. After the season I had last year (waiting a long time to draft a QB) I wasn't about to do it again. Trying to get Vick was still pretty early (probably 6th or 7th QB drafted), and he's got 9 turnovers through 3 games. The league in which I have been starting Romo is 3-0.

If you waited for a QB this season (unlike most seasons) you are probably doing very well.

Dream Theater Instagram Photo Contest Entry (OC)

This is a composite image I submitted to Dream Theater's #DramaticEvents photo contest.. My ticket superimposed over my view from my seat. They were very strict on camera usage & picture taking at this venue. I only took about 7 pictures with my phone, so I didn't have a lot to work with.

Click on the image not only to enlarge it   (because it's tough to see in the small version), but to go give me a "LIKE"! ...I appreciated more than you know!!

Fantasy Players Need More Options when Ranking Players!

The image is tiny on purpose. (It's not my point for you to look at it.)

The sooner that fantasy football sites allow its owners to upload a .txt file (or .wpd, or similar) of their player rankings list -- the better. The only option is to drag and drop each of about 150-200 players in your own order, and if you use a personal list that you've spent a lot of time compiling, it's worse than if you are lazy and want to use whatever list there is available to you! It really sucks to spend two hours ranking players at Yahoo, which is otherwise a

VERY good free site for fantasy football. Even the site I pay $150 for my 14-year league has no better option.

Online fantasy football has been around now for how many years? 14? 15? Why can't they figure out this part? With all the other improvements each host site makes every year, I keep waiting for this one, but it never happens, and I'm challenging them NOW.

Huge sigh!!

And end rant.
