I have tickets for March 21st! But I just don't think it's a risk that needs to be taken now. The $78 can be a tip to the band for all they've done FOR ME for THIRTY-ONE years. See that's nothing. The band gets about half. But for my generosity (all Ticketmaster fees being 100% irrelevant) JP gets 5, JM gets 5, Labrie gets 4, JR gets 5, Mangini gets 5... About 100 other people get a few dollars, and so on and on.. and then the venue gets the rest. Sound guy might get the most! Lights guy is in the conversation as well. No one makes less money because I won't actually be there, except for maybe where my $17 beverage cost goes.
Many tickets are also still available, so there's that, too..
I also buy all their albums.
"The moment that you recognize
Just where your limits lie.
Hanging on the brink of death
You're never more alive.
When you reach the pinnacle
The world is at your feet.
Welcome to the mind unleashed."

The Red - Wonder What's Next, 2002
When I first heard "The Red" on the radio in late 2002, I told a lot of my friends "this band is gonna be huge!" To this day this is the song that defines Chevelle, and more importantly I was right about them 10 years ago. Chevelle is one of about a half-dozen bands that I've made this prediction with. But for me it was my most important. They have gone on to kick butt with every single release, and nothing has disappointed.
There is also a song that may be one of my favorite songs of all-time. This song just happened to carry me through a lot of tough times during 2003, and beyond. It has lingered with me - forever, and I thank you Chevelle for this masterpiece:

Beautiful Autumn Leaves

CTE!

We never get to see stuff like this down here in Texas, and that's a shame. It kinda makes raking seem like a little less of the chore it is. Sure, we get the leaves on the ground, but they're ugly.. and brown. Always.

South Texas Black Widow

Here are the best of the pictures of the black widow my wife & I found in my Mom's garage. This one was smaller than the ones I've seen in person in the past. This one might've been very close to the size of a quarter. Her legs are just about all spread out in the top image. (Enlarge these..)
And yes, as you'll see, this widow not only had the characteristic hourglass design on her ventral abdomen, but also a very similar-looking shape on her dorsal side. Is it a male? I don't think so, since we busted it wrapping up a little bug in a web. Male's are usually brownish, have orange or yellow markings, and their only function in life is to impregnate females. Supposedly they don't wrap up bugs, nor go on feeding binges to find bugs - they merely eat what they can quickly catch.

I have no idea if these two images are related or not, but what I do know is that they're beautiful pictures! And scary in a weird sort of way, too.

Toxic Sludge In Hungary
On Monday, October 4th, a large reservoir filled with toxic red sludge in western Hungary ruptured, releasing approximately 700,000 cubic meters (185 million gallons) of stinking caustic mud, which killed many animals, at least four people, and injured over 120 - many with chemical burns. [Above: A Greenpeace activist takes a sample of the toxic sludge in a town near Ajkai on October 5, 2010. (REUTERS/Waltraud Holzfeind/Greenpeace)]
The 12-foot-high flood of sludge inundated several towns, sweeping cars off the road as it flowed into the nearby Marcal River. Emergency workers rushed to pour 1,000 tons of plaster into the Marcal River in an attempt to bind the sludge and keep it from flowing on to the Danube some 45 miles away.
The red sludge in the reservoir is a byproduct of refining bauxite into alumina, which took place at an alumina plant run by the Hungarian Alumina Production and Trading Company. A criminal probe has just been opened by Hungarian authorities.

Red

I can't find a bigger one..

Sometimes it's not about reality as much as it is about flat-out imagery. What a great image.
But not only is it an incredible image, it's also the object image in a great photoshop tutorial by FaraZahar. Which is also featured on this Best Photoshop Tutorials for Newbies list...
...and probably a bunch more.
The point is it's a great image. And it's been sent in to a reverse-image search site (tineye dot com) at least 500-600 times. It's the only site I know of to give you the best chance at finding the true source of any image.
One of these days, I'll succeed. LOL
Eventually, ALL images posted here at One For The Road will be HD, and as big as possible.
