That's all there is to it. They were probably all doping back then anyway. And what do you expect from a guy who has to come all the way back from CANCER? Leave the guy alone.

My Perfect Week

I've only done it one other time in 17 years of NFL picks. Yeah it's pretty rare. I don't remember many perfect pick 'em weeks happening, although I suspect there were probably several for this week-7. Kudos to me!

Computer Issues, and a Frustrating Story

Thank you to kboyk2 for his comment on a forum that saved me from what I was certain was an unrecoverable PC condition.

Firefox locked-up. Ctr-Alt-Del, and ending task on Firefox did nothing. Hard boot did nothing. When I realized I still had control of my PC, I decided to do a normal "restart".

Then Windows7 was locked in "logging off" mode for hours. Hard-booting and then hitting F8 for safe mode didn't even work, and once it booted, it was just stuck in logging off mode again. Other than F2, for Boot options, I had no control of my own PC.

Here was the comment from kboy2k that was the answer:

"I figured it out on my own-- but anyway -- you must hold down the power off key for 10 seconds (2-3 seconds wont work- this puts in sleep mode) - after ten seconds release - it - then wait a minute then power on and windows should boot up fine=-- worked for mine." (Comment Via)

Learn something every day.

When I figure out why Firefox locked-up like I've never seen any program lock-up, I'll let you know.

Population Seven Billion

Motorists crowd at a junction during rush hour in Taipei, on October 29, 2009. There are more than 8.8 million motorcycles and 4.8 million cars on Taiwan's roads and nearly all motor vehicles and inhabitants are squeezed into a third of the island's area. (Reuters/Nicky Loh)(Source)

The United Nations Population Fund estimates that on October 31, 2011, the world's population will reach 7 billion. Just 200 years ago, there were only 1 billion people on the planet, and over the next 150 years, that number grew to 3 billion. But in the past 50 years, the global population has more than doubled, and the UN projects that it could possibly grow to 15 billion by the year 2100. As the international organization points out, this increasing rate of change brings with it enormous challenges. Meeting the basic needs of so many will mean growing, shipping, and distributing more food while providing more clean water, health care, and shelter -- all without inflicting too much further damage on our environment. Much of [this] growth has happened in Asia — in India and China. Those two countries have been among the world's most populous for centuries. But a demographic shift is taking place as the countries have modernized and lowered their fertility rates. Now, the biggest growth is taking place in sub-Saharan Africa.

Due in part to that region's extreme poverty, infant mortality rates are high and access to family planning is low. The result is high birth rates and a booming population of 900 million — a number that could triple by the end of the century. Population expert Joel Cohen points out that, in 1950, there were nearly three times as many Europeans as sub-Saharan Africans. If U.N. estimates are correct, there will be nearly five sub-Saharan Africans for every European by 2100. (Source)

Famous Getty Image Of The Vancouver Riots The Other Night

Via - (NSFFW)

So yeah this couple decided there was no better place nor time to make the best of their moment. The priceless picture is completely innocent, yet it's 100% perfection from a photographer's point of view. Riots are happening here. Cars are burning, hundreds of people are creating a situation in which riot police have to be dispatched. And yet these two people in love will be forever known as "the couple who were making out in downtown Vancouver amidst riots" - all because their hometown NHL team lost a Stanley Cup Final game-7. Badly.

For them? Ehh who won?

The story behind the picture..

Updated story here.. It turns out there's more to it than just a young couple kissing in the road!

7 People Who Messed With Texas

- A Holy Taco article -

Of all the places not to mess with, Texas, we’re told, is at the top of the list. But in reality, this near universal recognition of Texas as a state above our meddling is misplaced. Turns out the “Don’t Mess with Texas” slogan is nothing more than a marketing ploy cooked up for the Texas Department of Transportation to discourage rednecks from littering the roads with their empty beer cans (no, really).

So don’t let the bumper stickers, fridge magnets, and trashy tattoos fool you. Texas is just as worthy of a good razzing as Indiana, Oklahoma, and all the crappy states in our fair land. That’s not to say that Texas won’t mess with you in return, but you shouldn’t be unduly worried about the Lone Star State.

Still don’t believe me? Here are seven examples of people who have messed with Texas to varying degrees of success.

7. Bonnie and Clyde
Both Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow hailed from the Loan Star State. But this infamous crime couple didn’t seem to feel much kinship with their fellow Texans, especially members of Texas’ law enforcement. Most of their early robberies and murders took place in the state, as did the infamous Eastham prison break which Barrow orchestrated in 1934. Not long after the brazen raid in which many lawmen were killed, Texas grew tired of being messed with and formed a posse led by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer (Walker, Texas Ranger had not yet been born). Hamer and his crew tracked the pair to Louisiana, and turned them into human pencils.

6. Robin Ventura
With close to 6000 strikeouts and seven no-hitters, it’s easy to see why Nolan Ryan, a native Texan, is considered a hero to baseball fans in his home state. So in 1993, when Chicago White Sox third baseman Robin Ventura charged Ryan after being hit with a pitch, it was a safe assumption that he wasn’t making any friends with the local populous. Despite Ventura being twenty years his junior, the 46-year-old Ryan easily manhandled his attacker, pummeling him until other players pulled them apart.

Texas fans never forgave Ventura for the incident, and he was booed whenever he played in the state for the remainder of his career.

Continue to the rest of the list..

7 Hidden Dangers In Your Fridge

Fruits & Vegetables
Now here are some foods that don’t have to be in perfect condition for you to enjoy them.

Produce is the easiest to tell if it is starting to rot, because it won’t look good enough to eat! Squishy, slimy, or stinky produce needs to go in the garbage.

However, greens that are wilted can still be used in soups and stews; they have simply become a little dehydrated and started the aging process.

To avoid having to throw out expensive fruits and vegetables, grocery shop more often. Buying enough for 3-5 days at a time will help ensure you don’t lose money.

Mold
Moldy foods can be tricky and are sometimes a matter of preference. If cutting a green fuzzy corner off a block of cheese doesn’t gross you out too much, then you can save and eat the rest.

However, mold can also be dangerous, depending on how much and what food it appears on. If mold is covering the majority of the surface of the food, be safe and throw it out. Any meat in your refrigerator that has any sign of mold should go in the trash right away.

Watch out for mold on bread, jams, yogurt, nuts, and most pre-cooked leftovers. With these foods, it is better to say goodbye than to get sick.

Meat
The best way to judge if the meat in your refrigerator is safe, is to check the expiration date. Even meat that looks, smells, and tastes fine could be dangerous. Steaks and other red meats should not be consumed more than four days past the date on the package.

Frozen meat lasts longer, but never thaw and re-freeze it.

Use common sense. If meat is slimy, smells funny, or has a strange color, it should definitely be thrown away.

Freezer Burn
Freezer burn does not make foods unsafe, but it does change the taste and quality of the food. Having food in the freezer too long makes the water molecules extract and freeze, which can make it taste dry and lose flavor and color, even when thawed.

Everything from freezer-burned meat to ice cream can be safely eaten. The freezer burned sections of the meat can be trimmed off before or after cooking. Ice cream from the top of the tub, which can have heavy freezer burn, can be scraped off and the remaining ice cream should taste fine.

Fish
Wondering whether you should throw away ‘fishy smelling’ fish can be irritating, because of the expensive price tag in most grocery stores.

Fresh raw fish has a very short shelf life, lasting only 1-2 days in the fridge. Cooked fish leftover from a night at your favorite restaurant should last 3-4 days, but make sure you heat it thoroughly before you finish it.

If you can’t remember how long it’s been since you bought it, a sure sign that your fish has gone bad is a strong smelly odor in your refrigerator. Fish should smell like fish, but should not be overpowering.

Eggs
If the sale at the grocery store allows you to buy a lot of eggs at a time, go for it!

The term ‘rotten egg’ has led people to believe that eggs are inedible much faster than they really are. Eggs last up to five weeks after purchase.

And does anyone know the verdict on eggs that happen to freeze?

Dairy
Milk is one of the more straightforward foods to tell if it is past its prime. If it smells sour, then toss it. Still not sure of the smell? The consistency should give a clue-any lumps or flakes means it needs to go.

Cream, cottage cheese, and sour cream can be a little tricky, but generally stay safe for about 10 days past the date stamped on the label.

Yogurt can still be eaten a few days past the expiration date, but loses its flavor and nutritional value as it gets older, so it is probably worth throwing out.

Cheese and butter last the longest, but it is best to finish them before they are four weeks old.
