"1400 feet per second"   is a velocity.. a speed. Velocity = Distance ÷ Time

This means Time = Distance ÷ Velocity.

So.. the image should read: "The response time of a .357 is the distance from your target divided by 1400." At 14 feet, this would be 1/100 of a second. At 140 feet, one-tenth of a second. At 1400 feet, or a little over a quarter mile, it would take 1 second.
